I agree with a lot of the ideas that are presented in "On Ways of Thinking". It is hard to put an exact definition on what being educated means. Everyone has their own views on what it takes for someone to be considered educated. Some people believe that being educated means knowing a lot of facts and ideas. Other people believe that being educated means knowing how to succeed in your life and having street smarts. I think that being educated can mean a lot of different things. It can be a combination of these two views along with many other ideas. So how does someone decide if someone else is educated? The idea of being educated is mainly up to the person, it is up for interpretation.

I like how Howard Gardner talks about all the different abilities that a person can have. He mentions multiple intelligences. This shows that someone may lack skills in one area but be extremely talented in another area. In the Howard Gardner intro 1 video they talk about how educators agree with this idea. I also believe in this theory, and agree with the fact that people are talented in different areas. I see this theory hold true when looking at people with exceptionalities. These students with disabilities may be behind in different areas of education but excel in different activities outside of school. The fact that they do not do well in school does not mean that they are not intelligent. It means that they are more skilled in different areas.
